LAWS Update – May
ANIMAL CARE & COVID
We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to all our friends and supporters, who either adopted or fostered during our time of need.
This is a unique situation, which has presented a few dilemmas. We have kittens waiting for vaccines, juvenile and adult cats waiting for spays/neuters, cats in heat, cats in homes that didn’t work out, and sick cats and kittens.
Thank you for your patience, while our staff works through some of these issues with you. It is frustrating, we agree, but please know that the vets are doing the best they can with the situation – as they themselves have been MANDATED by the OVC that they are only to do urgent care.
What does this mean? It means that check ups, blood work, needles, spay/neuter surgery are, unfortunately not part of urgent care. We will have to wait until OVC changes their mandate, and the threat of COVID has passed.
COMMUNICATION WITH LAWS
Our preferred means of communication at this time is either through our LAWS Facebook messages OR by leaving a message on our answering machine at (705)652-0588. Mary Werner will be checking messages daily and getting back to you for anything urgent.
FUTURE OPENING
Yes, we are planning on reopening. Like the rest of Peterborough, we have heard that we shall be closed until the end of May. After that, we will be hoping to hear more encouraging news as to when the LAWS reopening may occur. Stay tuned.
ANIMALS RETURNING ONCE WE OPEN
LAWS staff will get in touch with you if you have been fostering for us. We hope to have animals scheduled to come in on a specific day/time (in blocks), so that we aren’t overwhelming them as they re-enter the facility. Fingers crossed that you will hear from us sometime in June.
